UiTM ECO PARK

The Puncak Alam Steps or “Tangga Puncak Alam” add a unique value to the university and it is famously known among university students because it is believed to be the highest outside steps ever built in a university campus in Malaysia. There are more than 300 steps, which is even higher than Batu Caves which has 272 steps in Selangor, Malaysia. Because of this, students named the steps as:

• “Tangga Maut” or the “Dead Stairs”

• “Tangga Batu Caves” or the “Batu Caves Stairs”

• “Tangga Kejayaan” or the “Success Stairs"

There are also rumors spreading among students calling it as “Success Stairs” because they make a joke for students who wish to study higher, to apply for UiTM Puncak Alam, as it has the highest stairs in the university and hostels are located on the hills. Every day, students use to climb up and down the stairs between classes and their hostels. This portrays their determination to gain knowledge from the best educators (credited to all staffs) in the campus no matter how difficult it be, they can face all challenges toward finishing their studies.

The stairs can be added with eco elements such as putting the flower pots along the stairs. Therefore, people can enjoy the decors while walking up and down the stairs. Activity such as “International Peakthon Challenge” can be introduced and organized in the campus as annual event of the university where participants can be locals and internationals. This challenge is suggested to start from the UiTM Puncak Alam stadium and end at one of the highest peak in the university land, which is the Rafflesia Square. The stairs will be used as one of the running routes of the challenge. This challenge is named as “Peakthon” because of the route starting from the stadium to the Rafflesia Square located inside Rafflesia residential area is not flat and straight, but always hilly. The running routes are suggested as follows:

Route 1    : UiTM Puncak Alam Stadium – Top of Universe Steps – Rafflesia Square – Top of Universe Steps – UiTM Puncak Alam Stadium (about 6 km)

Route 2     : UiTM Puncak Alam Stadium – UiTM Eco Park – Top of Universe Steps – Rafflesia Square – Top of Universe Steps – UiTM Puncak Alam Stadium (about 7.5 km)
